Who Will Listen?

Are you or a friend in a tough spot? Remember that there are many different ways to get all the support you need. Begin by reaching out to people who you can trust… a respected adult, your Pastor, a teacher, or friends -- there is always someone there who cares for you. If you find that you just can’t seem to find it in yourself to share your problem with someone you know, there are other places you can go to for help. Here are just some of them:

Kids Help Phone's telephone counselling is available toll free, 24/7, from anywhere in Canada. They have a professional counselling staff and the service is completely confidential. You can call anonymously…they do not have call display. Don’t worry that your problem isn't serious enough or you aren't sure what to say when you call. Professional counsellors understand how difficult it can be to talk about something that is bothering you. They understand the things that are bugging you.

Don’t think that this is just the number to call if there has been an accident. If you or someone you know may be in critical danger… even if you only suspect it, call immediately.

If your parent is an employee of a Lutheran Church congregation or school, there is a confidential counselling service available to you as well as your parents. The professional counseling network is made up of experienced Counselors, Psychologists, Social Workers and Specialists who are ready to help you with anything that is bothering you. Some of these things might be:

depression;
relationships;
weight problems;
stress at school; and
drugs and alcohol.
