Your Retiree Extended Health Care plan is designed to assist you with many of the expenses not covered under your Provincial Health Insurance Plan including prescription drugs and professional services and supplies. There is an overall lifetime maximum of $50,000 per person on the plan.

Can I Claim Prescription Drugs?

Your benefit plan covers 80% of the cost of prescribed drugs. As a retired member of the LCC Benefits Plan you may continue to use your Manulife Member Card which can be used at your pharmacy to electronically process the payment of your prescription drugs. Are Any Other Medical Services Covered?

80% of the cost of professional services and supplies is covered under your benefit plan. These may include:

• Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Acupuncturist, Podiatrist, Osteopath, Naturopath, Massage therapist;
• Ambulance service;
• Out-patient hospital service charges; and
• Various other services and supplies. Please consult your handbook or contact Manulife for more information.

What Expenses are Not Covered?

There are a few expenses that are not covered under your benefit plan. These include:

• Semi-private or private hospital accommodation;
• Charges that are covered under your Provincial Health Insurance;
• Drugs that are not approved by Health and Welfare – Canada; and
• Various other expenses as listed in your handbook.

If you are in doubt for any reason as to your coverage or if it is a significant cost, do not assume or take someone’s word for it. (For example, orthotics, dental implants, semi-private hospital room, hearing aids, etc.) Please call Manulife at 1-800-268-6195 or get a preauthorization from Manulife who will provide you with details of what is eligible and how much will be reimbursed according to the specifics of the LCC Worker Benefit Plans insurance policies.
